Penguins Food Showdown
Penguins class took part in a fun but educational session this afternoon - think 'Ready-Steady-Cook'
Courtesy of The School Food Showdown Academy, Penguins class took part in a fun but educational lesson on healthy eating and cookery. We learnt about food groups and that there are no 'good' or 'bad' foods, the importance of portion control and eating the right amounts of each food group. Penguins class impressed Ben (our chef for the afternoon) with their knowledge of healthy eating and how the different food groups are good for our bodies. We were then challenged to create a delicious healthy meal with only the ingredients on our table. The Red team was led by Mrs Smith and the Green Team was led by Mrs Armstrong. Children enjoyed the food tasting the best and tried our delicious meals - Mrs Smith's group made a delicious chicken noodle stir-fry and Mrs Armstrong's group made a healthy vegan balti. Both meals were scrumptious, but the top vote went to the chicken stir-fry. Well done to the Red team.
