To begin our writing unit, based on the text 'The Windrush Child' by Benjamin Zephaniah, children in years 5 and 6 have looked at and analysed historical evidence to answer probing questions about the Windrush generation and why thousands of people travelled from their homes in the Caribbean to England from 1948- 1978.  

They worked in groups to analyse evidence such as photographs, letters, advertisements, recruitment posters and a Jamaican British passport.  

We are looking forward to seeing how this unit progresses and will share some writing with you all later in the term.
